CWU Libraries presents NEA Big Read: Strangers Maybe Never Again: Knowing and Writing Wilson Creek

April 29, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Ellensburg is interlaced with urban streams, many of them running underground. Wilson Creek, which runs directly through the heart of the city is one such creek. Join writer and poet Wendy Lee Spaček and a KEEN (Kittitas Environmental Education Network) naturalist on a walking tour and writing workshop focused on Wilson Creek and inspired by another one of Ross Gay’s books, River, which consists of a series of meditations on urban waterways. Participants will receive a free custom notebook and pencil, a walking map illustrated by Heather Dappen, and a copy of Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude.

Location: This workshop will depart from the Kittitas Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 400 N. Anderson Street.

No registration is required. Maximum attendance: 25

The CWU Libraries has received a 2023 NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Big Read grant for its proposed community events and activities featuring Ross Gay’s collection of poetry, A Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude. Visit our online guide for information on the author, the collection, and on our planned events.

For additional information contact Maureen Rust, Student Engagement and Community Outreach librarian.
