Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffleball, over a net. The sport can be played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and with a slightly modified tennis net. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. A little know fact about pickleball is that it was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle, by three dads whose kids were bored with their usual summertime activities.
Pasco Recreation offers Drop-In Pickleball year round with various schedules according to the season. This program is run by volunteers to keep costs low. Ask us how you can become a volunteer by e-mailing us at [email protected]
