Heritage University’s Fine Art Department in conjunction with Gallery 110 in Seattle, is pleased to present a selection of artwork from eastern Washington emerging artists. The exhibit on display is the first segment of a two part exhibition opportunity for the selected artists, as 10 of the 15 artists will be selected to have their artwork displayed at Gallery 110 in Seattle in June 2023. In addition, a finalist will be selected for a fully paid 2-year membership in the gallery including mentoring in all aspects of non-profit art gallery operations and building an inclusive artistic community.
15 artists were selected by Rosie Saldana, Christie Tirado, and Gregory Pierce from an open call to artists residing in the 20 eastern Washington counties, from small towns to larger cities such as Winthrop to Walla Walla, Spokane to Pullman, and Tri-cities to Yakima to name a few of the places where the artists in this exhibition reside in.
You’ll experience an eclectic range of artistic styles and content, from naturalistic paintings that examine our mortal relationship with medical technology, stylized self-reflections on identity and heritage, to intriguing abstract sculptures using spalted maple wood (trees infected with black fungus), deftly sculpted into forms reminiscent of 12th century Chinese scholar stones.
This Exhibition is a collaboration with Gallery 110 in Seattle and generously supported in part by the Robert McMillen Foundation
