Main Gallery Opening: 23 Sculptures and Me – An Evolution in Wood by Alan Newberg

June 24 @ 12:00 am - August 5 @ 12:00 am PDT

Alan Newberg is a sculptor and painter who lives and works in Bremerton, Washington. His award-winning work has been exhibited widely and is held in many public and private collections. He is a native of Custer, South Dakota who studied art at Sioux Falls College, the University of Wyoming, as well as the University of Oregon where he earned an MFA. “I would describe my current status as an active late mid-career artist. All of my professional life has been in the Northwest. After graduating with an MFA from the University of Oregon in 1969, I spent 20 years teaching at Montana State University-Billings, and another twenty years teaching art at Olympic College in Bremerton. I retired from teaching in 2009 and have now spent 10 years as a full-time practicing artist. I have been active as an exhibiting artist throughout my fifty some year career. During my teaching years, I was mostly a painter who occasionally did some sculpture. I now describe myself as a sculptor who occasionally does some painting.”
