MLK Voting Rights March
January 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm UTC-7
Free
In solidarity with the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Palouse Council on Racial Equity invites you to gather in Reaney Park, Pullman at 1:00 pm on January 17th to highlight the urgent need for federal legislative action on voting rights, for the passage of two bills stalled in the U.S. Senate, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act.
Speaker Rob Ndambuki, Carol Ndambuki, Jeff Guillory, and Megan Guido will address the importance of democratic voting rights and civil rights. In keeping with other MLK weekend marches across our country, we will march across the bridge on East Spring Street in a loop from Reaney Park, through downtown Pullman, returning to the park. The bridge crossing is meant to symbolize the landmark 1965 march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge from Selma to Montgomery in support of voting rights for all.
Wear face masks, dress for winter, and join us in solidarity of federal voting rights legislation!
