Troy Community Theatre’s production of “Newsies”

Troy Community Theatre will be presenting their production of Disney’s “Newsies”, the Musical, at the Troy City Park on July 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st. Tickets are $10 and are available online, at Troy Umpqua Bank, and at the door. There’s no charge for children under age 5.
“Newsies” was written by Harvey Fierstein, with music by Alan Menken, and Lyrics by Jack Feldman, and the musical is based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White.
The Troy Community Theatre’s production of “Newsies” is being led by a crew of top stage professionals. Director Ricky Kimball, is a recent graduate of University of Idaho’s MFA program in Directing and received the Musical Legacy Award in 2013 from Utah Festival Opera for “consistently using musical theatre to change the lives of his students.” Choreographer/ Co-director Abigail Raasch of Troy recently graduated from University of Utah with a BFA in Modern Dance, and brings her experience directing and choregraphing the past two Troy Community Theatre productions, “Wizard of Oz” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Music Director, Peter Hanes is known locally for his musical direction of APOD’s productions of “Pirates of Penzance” and “Under the Bridge.”
The “Newsies” cast is comprised of local talent from Troy and the surrounding community. It’s the mission of the Troy Community Theatre to bring theatrical opportunity to rural communities within our region through their annual theatre production.
The show will take place in the Troy City Park Gazebo every night starting Wednesday, July 28th at 7:00 PM, and continuing with 8:00 PM showings Thursday, July 29th through Saturday, July 31st. Concessions will be available for purchase at the show. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance on the website at www.troycommunitytheatre.com or at the Troy branch of Umpqua Bank on Main Street in Troy. They may also be purchased at the door. Patrons are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating.
The Troy Community Theatre is under the sponsorship of the Troy Arts Council, which is a non-profit group devoted to cultivating the arts in Troy and the surrounding area.
