Kanale:

Not growing up in the Northwest, it’s sometimes hard to understand where people are coming from when they say, “it’s always been like this” or “you know back in the old days in the Inland Empire … ” or “why do we have to pay for that, we never did before…”

Having grown up in Hawaii, it’s tough to know where the Inland Northwest has been and why “things are done this way…”. Hi, I’m Kanale.

Greg:

Growing up here for 40 plus years I think I’ve seen my fair share of things in this part of the country, my family farms in St. John, Washington, my wife teaches in Spokane, and I work for public broadcasting in Pullman. Hi, I’m Greg!

Scott:

And I’m Scott–grew up in the Grand Coulee Dam area (Go Raiders!), backpacking in the North Cascades and Okanogan Highlands as a Boy Scout. And, yes, I drive a Subaru. Over the next few months we want to provide context to a lot of topics that we’ll see on the ballot throughout this election year.

Greg:

But not just one side versus the other; we want to really show ‘HOW WE ENDED UP HERE.’

Kanale:

How did these initiatives and measures end up on the ballot?

Scott:

How does the vote you cast affect policy; even if you’re not voting for a specific issue?

Greg:

How have northwest hot-button topics, like dams, salmon and wolves become so polarizing?

Scott:

Kanale:

Greg:

Like from Costco, in bulk? Can I get podcasts at the store?

Scott:

Yeah, that’s not how it works…
