https://youtu.be/QI__hbz3wEQ More Murrow News Stories PULLMAN - Eyes became sweaty and hearts became full as Dan Maher, a well known name in local radio and music, requested a standing ovation for two special people at the final KZUU Radio meeting of the year.
He invited the staff to stand and clap for Anawae Lippincott and Kari Jakobsen as this would be the final meeting with them as Co-General Managers.
Maher, an advisor to the station, stood up and spoke about how much radio meant to him growing up as blind man, meant to the community as KZUU had to be fought for when the CUB was remodeled, and how much these two girls meant to him.
He mentioned the family environment that they grew and fostered. Both Lippincott and Jakobsen also expressed pride in this.
"It's not even so much about the music. That's like the reason we're here, but the reason why people stay is more like the community I think," said Jakobsen.
They pass the torch to Sovann Robinson who comes in with big plans.
"Next year I want to bring a lot more DJs of diversity in. Hopefully reach out to groups of underrepresented students. I want to throw a big 50th anniversary celebration for KZUU, and, I guess, I hope to ruin KZUU more like a business and grow it as if it's a brand," said Robinson.
