Friends-Giving

Friends-Giving

This Thanksgiving, local Non-Profits are inviting anyone wishing to have a hot holiday meal to come enjoy a traditional holiday dinner. Black Apron, WA (a culinary service) along with Red Mountain Kitchen have partnered together since March to provide a monthly meal to anyone wishing to have a hot dinner in a community centered atmosphere. At their September dinner they served over 100 individuals in the span of 2.5 hours.

The Friends-Giving will take place the last Wednesday of November (yes, the day before Thanksgiving), on the 26th. Plans are underway to begin serving people earlier than usual, with an option for take-home meals if you are unable to come in and enjoy the community atmosphere. Keep an eye on social media for updates. We plan to begin service at 4pm and run until 9pm. There are no barriers, all are welcome!

“Four years ago, I started my non-profit, Black Apron, providing in-home culinary services to anyone who needs help making home-cooked meals. Turns out it’s surprisingly difficult to get the word out to people that your programs exists, let alone have them feel safe enough to reach out for help,” says Chef Randy McNiven. “So in March, I started a collaboration with Red Mountain Kitchen, and we now host a Community Meal on the last Wednesday of each month. I have always cooked for my family, and when I cook now it’s for all of us — for the community, for people who really need the help. In that small way, I can help them.”
