IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Use your IRA to support the news, music, and programs you love, while making a meaningful impact in our communities.

The Qualified Charitable Distribution of "QCD"

What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), previously known as a “Charitable IRA Rollover,” is a tax-wise way to donate directly from your IRA to your favorite nonprofit organizations, including NWPB.

How Does a QCD Work?

If you are 70½ years or older or subject to a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, you can instruct your IRA custodian to transfer funds directly to a nonprofit. The key benefits:

  • The distribution counts toward your RMD.
  • The amount donated is not included as taxable income on your tax return.

This can reduce your taxable income while supporting Northwest Public Broadcasting.

How to Make a QCD to NWPB

Please direct your IRA custodian to make the distribution payable to:

Washington State University Foundation
PO Box 641925
Pullman, WA 99164-1925

Phone: 509-335-6686 or 800-448-2978
IRS Tax ID: 91-1075542

To ensure your gift supports NWPB, please notify the Foundation or NWPB that your QCD is intended for Northwest Public Broadcasting.
