The Idaho North Central Health District Board of Health, based in Lewiston, announced it is hiring Kayla Sprenger as its new district director.

Sprenger, who previously worked for the district as the community health program manager, brings more than 13 years of experience in public health. Doug Zenner, chairperson of the Board of Health, said board members selected her in a national search.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kayla Sprenger as our new director,” Zenner said. “Her extensive experience and dedication to public health will be invaluable in advancing our mission of promoting the health and well-being of our District.”

Sprenger will replace Carol Moehrle, who announced her retirement in March after serving as director for 32 years.

In addition to her work as the program manager, Sprenger’s experience includes emergency preparedness, as well as managing the Health Education and Home Visiting programs.

Sprenger said she is excited to continue to work alongside public health staff to improve health outcomes in the district.

“I look forward to collaborating with the counties and community partners to carry out the mission of public health,” she said. “I have big shoes to fill, and I am excited for the challenge.”

Sprenger will officially start in her new role June 3.
