Before we look ahead, we pause to remember an extraordinary voice on classical radio.

On July 24, Bill McGlaughlin’s family and WFMT Chicago announced his passing. As the creator and longtime host of Exploring Music, Bill welcomed listeners into the world of classical music with warmth, curiosity and an unmatched gift for storytelling. His deep musical knowledge and engaging style made even the most complex works feel approachable. His voice became a familiar companion to listeners across the country. He will be deeply missed.

Beginning August 24, Exploring Music enters a new chapter as Peter van de Graaff takes the microphone as the program’s new host. Peter brings decades of broadcasting experience and a lifelong passion for sharing great music, both on-air and as a bass-baritone who has performed with leading opera companies and symphonies worldwide. He will continue Exploring Music’s tradition of delving into the stories, composers, and performances that make classical music endlessly fascinating. Peter’s first months as host include weekly themes such as, “Sound the Trumpets,” “Darius Milhaud,” and “Peter’s Picks.”

Join us beginning August 24 at 7:00pm as we welcome Peter van de Graaff to Exploring Music while honoring the remarkable legacy Bill McGlaughlin leaves behind.

Hailing from Bellevue WA, Anjuli Dodhia was immersed in classical music at a young age. She sang in her church youth choir, and in senior year of high school, she was the orchestra’s principal violinist.
