Art, Culture & Conversation: A Community Perspectives Tour with Dr. Ariana Maki
What happens when you look at art through someone else’s eyes?
Join the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU on Friday, October 16 from 3:00–4:00 p.m., for a Community Perspectives Tour with art historian Ariana Maki of the University of Idaho. Dr. Maki will share her perspective on select works in the museum’s current exhibitions, including “The Mirror that Nature Holds: From the Collections of Jordan Schnitzer and His Family Foundation”.
This is more than a traditional museum tour. Participants are invited to join the conversation throughout the hour, sharing their own observations, questions and interpretations as the group considers how art connects with personal experience, culture and different fields of knowledge.
Ariana Maki is an art historian and occasional curator and recently joined the University of Idaho as an assistant professor in Art & Design. Her research focuses on the material and visual cultures of South Asia, with particular expertise in the Himalaya. She is a two-time Fulbright U.S. Scholar to Bhutan and was awarded an NEH-Mellon Fellowship for “Life of the Buddha”, a digital humanities project.
Come see the exhibitions from a new perspective—and bring your own.
LOCATION | The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located at 1535 NE Wilson Road, in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
