Title: Commemorating America 250
Speaker: Hayley Noble
Description: In these polarizing times, how are various levels of the government and local communities commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence? What does the commemoration mean to us in the West? How have we marked similar anniversaries in the past? How can you participate in commemoration activities and engage with this important history? These are just a few questions that Hayley will be answered in this presentation, as the Latah County Historical Society leads our Moscow America 250 efforts.
Bio: Hayley is the Executive Director at the Latah County Historical Society, a role she has held since 2022. Before moving to Moscow to join LCHS in 2021, she was a historian at the Old Idaho Penitentiary in Boise. Hayley received her MA in Public History from Boise State University in 2019, where she studied military history, focusing on Soviet women in combat in WWII. She also serves on the Latah Historic Preservation Commission and as the Idaho Association of Museums President.
