Intro to Basic Silk Screen Printmaking

Intro to Basic Silk Screen Printmaking

March 25 & April 1

Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:30 pm

$75 for both days

Intro to Basic Silk Screen Printmaking utilizing stencils to develop a 2 layer finished print. This is a low-tech technique that involves passing ink through a cut-out or torn design with paper to create reproducible images or patterns. I will explain the basics of screen printing, demonstrating how much ink to use, what the consistency should be, and the right pressure to use when printing. During this 2 hour, 2 session, course students will plan, design, and layout their stencils taking into consideration the 2 step process. The first layer of their composition will be printed during the first class session. Students will then return the following week and add the second and final layer to their work. Each student will print an addition of 5 finished pieces. The screens will be prepared for each student and a colorful verity of screen printing inks will be available. All you will need to bring is your imagination for the 8x10 image area.

All materials will be provided.

*Bring a snack and water.
