Her transformation unsettles fans, her manager, and even herself, especially as a stalker emerges and murders follow. Perfect Blue, the directorial debut of Satoshi Kon, is hailed as the first animated film to deliver authentic psychological suspense. Released in Japan in 1998 and celebrated at international festivals, it blurs the lines between fiction and reality, dreams and delusions, and cyberspace and identity.
