The Kirkman House Museum will transform its front lawn into a living showcase of fiber arts on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting the public to watch spinners and weavers demonstrate their craft alongside the live sheep that supply the wool.

Visitors will see spinners working at their wheels and weavers at their looms, and will have the chance to meet the sheep whose fleece is being spun on site. Yarns, coverlets, and knits will be offered for sale on site by the artists, the Weavers and Spinners of Walla Walla, who made them. The celebration continues indoors, where live music will fill the historic Kirkman House throughout the event.

Free and open to the public, this event is part of Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, a nationwide initiative of Craft in America commemorating the nation’s Semiquincentennial. Across the region, museums are joining the celebration with exhibitions highlighting the creativity and artistry that have shaped American communities for generations.
