Book lovers of all ages are invited to read with a purpose during the upcoming Words for Whitman Read-A-Thon, a community-wide event to raise funds for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Led by Whitman County Pomona Grange #2, the Read-A-Thon will kick off on August 1 with a Literacy Fair at Whelan-Ewartsville Grange Hall with readings by local authors:
--Diane Worthey will feature her new interactive children's book, The Sound Museum: Classical Music.
--Guy Worthey will read from one of his Young Adult books in the Ace Carroway series.
--Claudine Yvette will read from a book in her historical fictional mystery series.
Other Literacy Fair activities include Little Free Library building demo and dedication of a new Little Free Library at the Grange, as well as a free book swap. Come dressed as your favorite literary character to enter the costume contest. Registration opens Aug 1 for participants of all ages to pledge and read as many minutes as possible during August.
