The Pullman farmers market takes place every Wednesday from May to October. But every third Saturday from November to April, when it’s cold outside and the weather becomes a problem, the market moves indoors to the w-s-u Brelsford center. Farmers market manager Amanda Argona says Pullman residents can come to this winter market and support local businesses.
“You’re supporting your neighbors, first and foremost. Especially for the Pullman farmer’s market we try and source as many of our vendors from a 60-mile radius and so you’re giving folks an opportunity to really test the waters when it comes to establishing a business.
Local farmer Joe Wilson reiterates the benefits of buying local with a simple message about quality.
“The closer you can get to the place the produce is raised, the better the quality.”
Palouse-based Hearth of theDragon is one of the local businesses that has benefitted from the exposure that the winter market offers.
“Because it is such a local event and in the town of Pullman, living out in Palouse sometimes it’s hard for people to see your business. So, by doing this event, we’ve gotten a lot of people to contact us to do caterings and stuff like that, so it’s really been good for our exposure for the business.”
For anyone feeling like they’ve missed out on what the winter market has to offer, you still have one more chance to attend it
“It’s after WSU mom’s weekend, so mom’s weekend is the weekend before. April 20we’ll be back here at the Brelsford WSU visitor center and it’s the last winter market of the season before we go into our regular market season mid-May.”
