More Murrow News Stories PULLMAN-Tonight at 5:30 p.m., the Sigma Chi Field will be filled with hundreds of students waiting to see Slushii at the Monster Energy Up and Up festival. The festival is a pre-sale competition for students across the nation to bring an emerging artist to their campus to perform. This year, a total of 6 universities including WSU, UNC Wilmington, Alabama, Iowa, JMU, and Penn State won the opportunity to have the festival take place at their campus. Lead Content Producer Shay Dingfelder is excited to see the festival return to WSU.
“WSU was one of the first schools to win and then it was actually the first show ever to happen. So in 2016 Cash Cash came, we had an awesome show,” said Dingfelder in an interview.
Students like Lexi Krzycki have also been heavily involved with bringing the festival to WSU. Krzycki works as a campus ambassador for the festival, a job she believes takes a special kind of person with a lot of dedication.
“Last semester, and even this semester, [I] would take like four hours out of my day every single day to sneak into dorms and put up flyers everywhere...just to make sure everybody knows,” said Krzycki in an interview.
We reached out to Slushii for a comment but have not yet heard back. The link for the Monster Energy Up and Up festival remains open and tickets are still being sold.
