More Murrow News Stories PULLMAN- Spring break brings a sigh of relief for most, unless you have pets.
Most pet owners know the struggle of trying to get themselves and their pets ready to go on a trip, but pet owners who aren’t taking their animals have a whole different challenge.
Pullman has some kennels for pets to stay in while their owners are away for break, but not a lot of cat owners want to keep their animals there. The next solution is having someone look after your animal while you are gone.
Finding the right person can be tricky, they have to be good with pets and know a little bit about them. You also have to trust them enough to allow them access to your house while you are away.
That’s the route Madison Durbin takes with her cats during school breaks. Because she can’t bring her cats home, she entrusts her neighbor to watch her cats for her. This kind of trust is a risk she is willing to take to make sure her cats feel comfortable staying in their own home.
Durbin says she thinks cats are easy to leave when you go on a trip because they tend to more self sufficient than dogs do. But she does notice a difference in their moods when she gets back.
