More Murrow News Stories PULLMAN, WASH -A new tradition was created in the city of Moscow. The first annual Moscowberfest was this weekend! This community event featured food, drinks and live entertainment, which was a way for people to experience German traditions.
People dressed the theme while being able to enjoy a variety of beer, cider and seltzers. As well as pretzels and German sausage. All the food and drinks were from local sponsors in the Moscow area.
The community packed Main Street tonight to celebrate Octoberfest, where they got to experience live music, food, beer and a bunch of games.
Bands were performing their live music in the center of the event. People got up to dance and celebrate. Groups games were lined up on the side of the road.
“Moscow just passed an entertainment district that runs up and down main street and 6 th street. Where you can bring your family, friends, anybody… where you can hang out and have a good time. We were right 7 weeks away from October and decided to do Moscowberfest and here we are!” Stephan Yauchzee, Moscow City of Commerce Director said.
Moscow City Council passed the new resolution last month, allowing open containers in the downtown entertainment district where the event was held. This allowed the public to walk around and enjoy the event with their drinks, instead of being confined in a beer garden.
Event organizers from Moscow Chambers of Commerce and Visitors Center have told the public to stay tuned for next year’s Moscowberfest date and that next year they hope to expand in vendors.
