
Cara Williams Fry
General ManagerCara Williams Fry has served as General Manager of Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) since February 2022, bringing 18 years of public media experience and a background in national and local commercial television. She is dedicated to delivering fact-based news, engaging STEAM education, and arts and culture programming that connects communities. During her tenure, Cara has led several strategic initiatives, including acquiring a new broadcast station in North Central Washington; launching a live, weekday, three-hour local jazz and community news program for Wenatchee and Leavenworth; establishing partnerships with NOVA to produce regional science stories; and securing three years of forward funding for a Community Reporter in the Walla Walla region.
She also implemented a cross-departmental, multi-platform content strategy at the station and helped launch the station's first educational program, Explore Together / Exploremos Juntos — a free, bilingual STEAM program for children ages 2–8 and their families.
Cara serves on the PBS Kids Leadership Council, is an ambassador for NPR Alliance of Rural Public Media, serves as the board chair for the Northwest News Network (N3), and serves on the Washington State Association of Broadcasters board. She has earned multiple national, state, and regional awards, and previously chaired the board of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware, and Susquehanna Valley. A long-time advocate for the Children’s Miracle Network, she devotes her volunteer time to nonprofits supporting children.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, and training her dogs.
