Cara Williams Fry

General Manager

Cara Williams Fry has served as General Manager of Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) since February 2022, bringing more than 20 years of experience in public media and commercial television. She is committed to delivering trusted journalism, meaningful educational content, and arts and culture programming that strengthens communities.

Under her leadership, NWPB has expanded its reach and impact - acquiring a new broadcast station in North Central Washington, launching a live weekday jazz and community news program for Wenatchee and Leavenworth, partnering with NOVA on regional science stories, and securing three years of forward funding for Community Reporting. NWPB is a member station of both NPR & PBS and serves 80% of Washington, parts of Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia through its News and News & Classical services.

Cara serves on the PBS Kids Leadership Council, chairs the Northwest News Network board (N3), is an Ambassador for the NPR Alliance of Rural Public Media, and sits on the Washington State Association of Broadcasters board. A recipient of multiple national and regional awards, she is also a longtime advocate for children's nonprofits. Outside of work, she enjoys being with family and friends, hiking, biking, and the great outdoors with her husband and dogs.
