Jean Pierre Garcia
TV Programming ManagerOriginally from San Diego, CA and traveling abroad as a NAVY brat, Jean-Pierre has the most roots in Washington (even a brief stint at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake!).
Radio events backstage and working as an on-air talent in Seattle left little room for a regular 9-5 which led him to public media and ignited his passion for the non-profit sector. Not only was he scheduling concerts and art events for all ages venue Real Art, but he was also ensuring that regularly scheduled programming was regularly scheduled for Tacoma. Sure enough, he discovered Dr. Universe, which led him to NWPB and he's glad to be part of the team for kids, grandparents and every neighbor in between!
Creating unique experiences and curating fantastic stories is the common thread in the last decade of his broadcasting career. Jean-Pierre's work is mission-oriented connecting with audiences and helping student-interns, donors, adapt to change in how we relate to one another. And yes, Elmo is shorter in person.
When he's not creating slide decks on how to make things just a little bit better or zooming in with experts in scheduling, Jean-Pierre can be found in a tea shop, making his abuela's carne asada recipe, diving in bargain bins for records or at a bookstore reading at open mics. It's a good life.
