PULLMAN - The X-treme Football League took flight last week. The reboot of an old football league saw an impressive 3.1 million viewers for each of their first games. The XFL is the second football league to try and succeed during the offseason for the NFL.
Last year it was the Alliance of American Football who tried to mend the gap during the offseason but found themselves calling it quits just eight weeks into the season.
Former WSU back up safety Cameron Duncan said he thought the league has a chance to succeed but it will need more support which is generally brought through making the game more of a spectacle.
Duncan’s idea goes against what the XFL is standing for, and that is being only about football and the fans who love the game.
While it may be off to a good start, there is no telling if the XFL is here to stay or not. But for football fans, its something to do on their Sundays.
