After decades of privately writing songs, in 2018 Talena boldly stepped forward with her debut EP. Her first release was an intimate voice and acoustic guitar record that earned rave reviews from online outlets such as Ear To The Ground and When The Horn The Blows. Since then, Talena has grown artistically through playing shows, and sharing her music in front of live audiences.
Her latest release, War Line, finds her incorporating a lusher Americana soundscape into her literate indie-folk. This expanded palette of instrumentation includes ethereal pedal steel, pastoral violin flourishes, and sensitive guitar, bass, and drums interplay.
Talena’s latest work recalls the subtle country-tinged beauty of songwriter indie artists such as Gregory Alan Isakov, Patrick Park, and John Paul White. The 5-song EP was recorded at Rye Room in Portland by studio owner and producer Matt Greco.
All ages, free dinner show 5PM-8PM!

Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana is one of the most electrifying and recognizable choral works of the 20th century. This powerful oratorio, featuring orchestra, chorus, and vocal soloists, is a raw and dramatic celebration of fate, fortune, and earthly pleasures.
Unlike many traditional oratorios rooted in sacred themes, Carmina Burana is entirely secular, based on medieval poems about love, revelry, and the unpredictability of life. To complement the evening’s theme, the program also includes Johann Strauss Jr’s Wine, Women, and Song, a lively waltz that echoes the spirit of Orff’s masterpiece.
Skagit Valley Chorale celebrates the United States of America’s 250th birthday insong, joined by the North Cascades Concert Band in a collaborative programcreated and conducted by SVC director Dr. Yvette Burdick and NCCB directorPeter Blau Ormsby. May 10 Sunday
Mother's Day is a great day to listen to music outdoors! Bring mom down to the library and check out our Lawn while listening to Sean Gaskell play the kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa! He will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the kora’s musical repertoire.
Sean first heard the kora performed live in 2006. That performance by Kane Mathis, who would become his first teacher, inspired him to immerse himself in music of the kora and travel to its homeland in West Africa. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots, often called Jalis or Jelis. Many songs tell stories of war, hardship, love and loss all while presenting the history and fabric of Mande society, of which the instrument originates.
