We dedicate a Zeitgeist session to the movie people who took their final bows in 2023, a distinguished roster that includes Harry Belafonte, William Friedkin, and Glenda Jackson. It was an especially tough year for movie composers (Burt Bacharach, Robbie Robertson, Ryuichi Sakamoto) and sex symbols who bloomed in the ’60s (Ryan O’Neal, Raquel Welch, Stella Stevens). Along with the marquee names, we’ll find time for a few obscure cinematic worthies. Oh, and Robert Blake, too.
