Auditions: August Wilson’s Fences

Directors Tamara Pomponio and Rick James will conduct auditions for August Wilson’s Fences on the mainstage at Prosser’s Princess Theatre on Sunday and Monday, June 25 and 26. Doors will open at 6 PM for sign-ins; auditions will begin at 6:30 PM and will include readings from the script. The play has roles for five men, ages older teens to 60s, one woman, 40 to early 50s, and one girl, age 8 to 12. Scripts are available for a three-day checkout, on a first-come, first-served basis, in Prosser at Mid-Columbia Library, 902 7th Street, and in Tri-Cities from Cherissa Boyd by calling her at 818.355.0164. Rehearsals will take place throughout the summer and performances will be in the Princess Theatre on September 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 PM and September 10 at 2:30 PM.
Publishing house Concord Theatricals describes this award-winning drama, “Troy Maxson is a former star of the Negro baseball leagues who now works as a garbage man in 1957 Pittsburgh. Excluded as a black man from the major leagues during his prime, Troy’s bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his wife and his son, who now wants his own chance to play ball.”
