January Topic: “Native Plants for Native Pollinators” with Abe Lloyd.
The January 3rd meeting of the Birchwood Garden Club will be held in the Rotunda Room of the Old City Hall Museum, 121 Prospect Street, Bellingham, WA 98225. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. and our meetings start at 7:00 P.M.
Our speaker will be Abe Lloyd who is a Senior Instructor at Western Washington University’s College of the Environment and Fairhaven College. He uses place based experiential methods to encourage his students to ask hard questions about the natural world. A longtime member of the Komo Kulshan Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society, Abe spends his free time foraging for wild edibles and documenting the regional flora, fauna and fungi. Abe has been studying pollinators through the Shuksan Conservancy and studying Bumblebees since 2015. Please join us!!!
Birchwood Garden Club membership is open to anyone in Whatcom or Skagit Counties. You are invited to join us at our monthly meetings where we will have membership brochures to join. Applications for small grants from the Birchwood Garden Club must be received by December 31 each year and will be awarded each year in January to organizations that promote education opportunities in the realm of horticultural, agricultural or related fields.
