Jazz a la Carte: Cowboy Jazz

The fall menu for Jazz a la Carte at Prosser’s Princess Theatre will open September 29 with Cowboy Jazz, a folk/country inspired jazz collective based in Portland, Oregon. Members of the quartet, alto saxophonist Bryan Smith, guitarist Ryan Meagher, bassist Shao Way Wu, and drummer Jonas Oglesbee, have collaborated for several years with the aim to diversify their audience in both urban and rural communities.
“Their music, described by some as ‘Merle Haggard meets Pat Metheny,’ explores folk and country stylings such as travis picking, singable melodies, and slide guitar, with a mix of complex harmony, high-flying solos, and modern jazz sensibilities,” said Ben Macy, Jazz a la Carte coordinator.
New to Jazz a la Carte this fall: Doors of The Green Room will open at 6:30 PM; music will begin at 7. Admission is free for youths and students with school ID. Adult tickets are still $15 each. Local wines, beers, hard ciders, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will also be available for purchase. The Green Room at the Princess Theatre is at 1226 Meade Avenue, Prosser.
