Local Journalism And Democracy

April 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The League of Women Voters of Kittitas County will host a discussion on the role journalism plays in upholding democracy on April 17, noon, at the Ellensburg Pasta Co. The League believes that the public’s ability to fully participate in our democracy depends on a healthy and reliable system for disseminating information. Most obviously, that role is fulfilled by robust, independent and responsible local news. Donna Etchey, General Manager of the Daily Record, and Joanna Markell, Managing Editor of the Yakima Herald-Republic will speak about the successes and challenges covering local government activities, elections and programs that affect our communities.
A Q&A session will follow. A video of the discussion will be available on the LWVKC YouTube Channel.
The event is free and open to the public with a no-host lunch.
Please RSVP so there is enough seating to [email protected]
Please Contact us at [email protected] with any questions.
