Of Critical Concern: A Historical Perspective

Explore criticality accidents of special historical concern from 1945 to the present. Investigate causes and consequences of two Cold War era Hanford accidents and the 1999 criticality accident at the JCO Fabrication Plant in Japan. View a “scorecard” of the total known number of accidents with a breakdown of facilities worldwide. Discover just how little active material actually fissioned – demonstrating the tremendous amount of energy involved in nuclear fission.
