OPENING NIGHT: The Jeffrey and Ellyn Hill Art Show at Henry Earl Estates

April 4 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Welcome to The Jeffrey and Ellyn Hill Art Show Henry Earl Estates – 25 E. Main, Walla Walla. The show runs April 4th – May 13th, 2024 with an art opening night on Thursday, April 4th 5-7pm.

The Father – Jeffrey Hill, “AKA the “Vineyard Van Gogh”, was born and raised in Walla Walla. His family immigrated to the Walla Walla area to farm wheat in the 1890s. He earned an Art and Art History degree at Whitman College. He studied in London at Sotheby’s Works of Art Course. He owned Craftsman Antiques in Seattle for 8 years. After Jeffrey returned to Walla Walla in 1996 to plant a small vineyard, Forgotten Hills. He refocused on his artwork in the off-season; it quickly grew to an all-season vocation. He paints and sculpts what he knows in the style that he loves. The result
is a vibrant outpouring of works that encompass the beauty of the Walla Walla Valley; the agricultural legacy of the area; and what he has learned growing grapes, hearing family stories, and studying the history of the farming community in the valley.

Jeffrey’s murals, paintings and labels can be seen at L’Ecole 41 Winery, Pepper Bridge Winery, Reininger Winery, Golden Ridge Cellars, Cougar Crest Winery, the Enology and Viticulture Center WWCC, Baker Boyer Banks, YMCA, Leonetti Winery, Inn at Blackberry Creek, Five Star Cellars, and Marcus Whitman Hotel.

Public sculptures created by Jeffrey are:
 Charging Buffalo Soldier – Garrison Middle School, Chase Street
(Yes, Jeffrey’s sculpting career started when he was in 9th grade)
 Grand Crew – at the Walla Walla Community College Viticultural Center on the corner of Issacs Ave. and Tausick Ave.
 A Farmer’s Prayer – at 3rd and Main Street Walla Walla
 Harvest Memories – at 1st and Main Street Walla Walla
 The Founding Fathers – in Waitsburg, WA on Main Street

The Daughter – Ellyn Hill is a visual artist that seeks to capture the vibrancy of a particular moment in time through the manipulation of line quality, value contrast and color temperatures. Working with traditional mediums, she focuses on creating interesting angles, patterns, and texture in hopes to bring seemingly inanimate objects and scenes to life.

After graduating from Walla Walla High School, she continued her art education in various programs and classes at different college campuses before attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco, California. Graduating with a BFA in Illustration in 2014, she then relocated to Seattle, Washington to work and participate in shows and classes at Gage Academy of Art, a school with an emphasis on foundational skills and roots in the training and celebration of classical realism. Years later, having moved to Eugene, Oregon with her husband, she continued her studies by taking figure drawing and landscape painting courses at Maude Kerns Art Center, taught by local artists Christopher St. John and Jordan K. Walker.

Having now settled back in her hometown, she wants to share what she has learned with the community.
