Scarecrow Video and Maple Leaf Community Council present MOVIES BY THE TOWER 2023

Saturday nights in August, Scarecrow Video and the Maple Leaf Community Council present MOVIES BY THE TOWER, a series of free outdoor film screenings at Maple Leaf Reservoir Park (1020 NE 82nd St, Seattle).

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Asian and Asian American filmmaking with Scarecrow Video’s curated selection of movies that celebrate the culture and talent of these communities. This year’s program features Stephen Chow’s action-packed comedy SHAOLIN SOCCER (Aug 5), Pixar’s heartwarming animated tale TURNING RED (Aug 12), the made-in-Seattle martial arts comedy THE PAPER TIGERS (Aug 19) with the director in person, and Ang Lee’s Academy Award winning classic CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON (Aug 26).

Each event will begin at 6pm with live music provided by friends of Attuned Music, followed by Mobile Movie Trivia, and the featured film starting at dusk. Sandwiches, hot dogs, and drinks will be available for purchase from Zylberschtein’s Delicatessen & Bakery, and free popcorn will be provided by the Maple Leaf Community Council. We will also be collecting much needed school supplies at the events for the Children’s Home Society’s North Seattle Family Center.

Bring your own low-back chairs, pillows, and blankets, and join us under the stars for this new and expanded 2023 season of Movies by the Tower!
