What Happened to Syringa Mobile Home Park and Its Residents? Book Launch with Leontina Hormel and Dawn Tachell

University of Idaho sociologist Leontina Hormel investigates the history surrounding Syringa Mobile Home Park’s beginnings, recurrent water crises, and devastating closure, and challenges the stereotypes directed at people living in mobile home communities. Trailer Park America expands on the stories covered from 1994 to 2018 in the Lewiston Tribune, the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, and NPR and illustrates how current governing practices, laws, and housing approaches disable people’s efforts to live the American Dream. The public is invited to listen and have conversation about what happened to Syringa and how we can support and build up our working-class communities facing discriminatory treatment today.
