Explore Minus Tide at Cama Beach State Park
July 5 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

When the summer tides are below zero feet, underwater sea life is revealed and then covered by the rising tide a few hours later. Volunteers from Cama Beach Foundation, Sound Water Stewards and Cama Beach State Park team up to help find and identify what is there: sea stars, nudibranchs, sand dollars, maybe a moon snail. FREE. Family-Friendly. Discover Pass required; purchase annual ($30) or one-day ($10) Discover Pass at the entrance to the park. See the species that are only revealed on the rare and spectacular lowest tides of the year.
On special low-tide dates (including July 2, 4, and 31), Cama Beach Foundation volunteers use a seine net to gently bring fish to the water’s edge where small children use hand-held nets to capture and put the fishes into buckets which are then carried to an awaiting aquarium tank at the seawall for all to see up close. Plus a touch tank!
Dates and Times vary according to the tide. See https://soundwaterstewards.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Low-Tide-Beach-Walks-Summer-2023.pdf
