Movies, Museums, and the Black West

March 28 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

What images and stories do we have about the American West? How have motion pictures and museums that center African-Americans in colonized lands reshaped that knowledge, the future of the region, and its many residents? What has freedom looked like to Black migrants? Moderated by Prof. Lisa Uddin (Whitman Art History and IRES), this conversation will draw on Prof. Mask’s film scholarship and Ms. Trice’s public history work to think through these and other questions.
