Charcoal drawing workshop is focused on basic skills and building fluency in visual art. Charcoal will be used simply because it is expressive, and easy to practice with, but the concepts covered are universal to representational art and can be applied in any medium.
If the weather is nice part of the workshop will be conducted outside using the historical barn itself as the subject to be drawn. You may wish to bring a hat and a water bottle.
Instructor statement: Representational art is powerful, direct, and near universal visual language which opens up a wide range of possibilities for visual communication, expression, and exploration of the subjects that interest us. My aim in teaching isn’t to have students create art the way i do, but to provide them with tools and knowledge that will help them to say what they want to say, how they want to say it, with their art.
